The TV is crystal clear and amazing. This TV replaced a 2yr old 37in Sharp LCD and the difference is night and day.

Menu system is one of the most intuitive I have ever seen.

Quality is first-rate.

1 Star The TV is Great, the AMAZON order processing earns my purchase a 1 star
Amazon changes the rules after they take your money. The original order I made said Electronic Express, then they changed it to another shipping priorty without notifying me. I called them and I reached a gentlemen who gave me a order number to go to Electronic Express to determine when my TV would be shipped. Electronic Express of course did not recognize the order number and told me to go back to Amazon. I called a second time and reached a lady.. clearly from India who would NOT divert from her script she was given and kept repeating the same thing over and over. I called back.. got a guy from India.. Suprise.. he loved his script too. But I told him he could not qualify for customer service, but more of a narator of a very entertaining script of we have your money.. we dont care if it takes 3 months to get your tv. I am sure Amazon will take this rating down as soon as they see it. Hopefully I will educate a potential buyer on Amazon from making the same mistake I made. I would not purchase from them again and I will most certainly post my disapointment about Amazon on the website that refered me to Amazon and also any other websites I get the chance to.

I am totally smitten by this TV. I know its not a 120HZ…But seriously, its an LCD 1080p. And its a SONY!!!!!!! These dont die out and it also have the bravia sync if I need later on…Both myself and my hubby and stuck to it from the time we have had it. The white glove service that delivers the TV is AWESOME! they unpack and assemble it …Start it , even connect it and check it to see if it works before they leave!! Totally Impressed.

I Purchased this TV from Amazon.com/Electronics Expo on 11-20-08, I couldn’t be happier with this great Sony HD set or the super fast shipping!! This TV was so easy to set up and use, we were watching it within 10 minutes of receiving it! The picture quality blew us away, it’s bright, sharp and beautiful!! This is the best bang for your buck!! 5 Stars Sony verses Sharp
I just sold my year old Sharp Aquis 32″ 1080P for this Sony. What a difference their is between the two. Sony blows the Sharp right out of the box. The picture on this Sony is outstanding. I cant tell you how happy I am to be rid of the Sharp and how much more enjoyable watching and using this Sony is. The Sharp was such a disappointment. My hat’s off to Sony for this fine product.

5 Stars Excellent TV worth the Money
This is an excellent TV. Not many TVs of this size are Full HD (1080P). It also has really great contast ratios. It has a 25000:1 contrast ratio. The menus are really easy to use and very intuitive. It shipped quickly, and I was called the day before delivery to schedule a few hour window of when they would arrive with the TV. That made it very convenient.

5 Stars Tickled pink.
Oh dear! I can hardly believe my eyes. I thought my Wega 23″ from Sony was an unsurpassable bedroom set due to its stunning picture quality and vividness, but I was wrong. Even within a couple of feet this 32XBR6 simply blows my mind. And what a rabbit it pulls out of the proverbial hat with standard cable channels! Through HDMI, it upconverts everything to 1080P and, by gosh, these standard cable channels actually look pretty darn decent. If this set is as reliable as my previous set, and I don’t see why it wouldn’t as they are both from Sony and the XBR family is this company’s top of the line TV’s, then my friends, you have here an outstanding winner that leaves everyone begging for a place in front of the screen.

5 Stars Great TV, but the TV Guide function is very poor
The TV itself, superb. Brilliant colors, plenty of contrast, tons of features. Viewing angles are good, not as good as a plasma or CRT TV but better than most. As you get to the side, you do start to lose contrast, but the picture is very viewable and when I say get to the side, I mean at least 45 degrees to one side or the other. You can get confused going through the menus on setup, but once you’re through them, it’s fine and you can go back and forth easily. I do like the menu layouts and the use of the options button on the remote to get to the most useful. I just use the build in speakers, and the sound is great. The simulated surround sound is quite pleasing. The hookup to my VCR/DVD/DVR (1080p upconverting) was simple….one HDMI cable and it’s all ready to go.

The TV Guide interface is my one complaint. The interface itself isn’t so bad…but the TV guide data is horrible. I get off the air TV in the Denver area, the TV guide, when properly setup, shows multiple different stations on EACH channel! So if you don’t put the proper station at the top of the list at each channel….the information shown on screen as you change channels is wrong. In addition, if you hit the TV Guide button, you get an overload of listings. If you turn off any one of the multiple listings for each individual channel…it turns off the channel from being selected. This is mostly TV Guide’s problem, not Sony’s but the ‘turn off any one listing and you turn off the whole channel’ is Sony’s problem.

Bottom line….I am VERY pleased with the TV, I would buy another one in a heartbeat and would strongly reccomend it to my friends. I tend to be a perfectionist about skin colors and color saturation (to me, most people set their TV’s with the color control turned up way too high) so the picture looks natural. I was not disappointed in this TV in this area. For me, it takes a lot of back and forth between all the various options…but the end result is as close to perfect as I’ve ever seen in a LCD based TV (or computer screen for that matter).

I believe the additional cost over Sony’s similar 32″ 720p (KDL32L4000) set is worth the extra money. To me, the difference between the two was very visible when looked at side by side. Your mileage may vary.

5 Stars I love this TV
This product page has all the technical specs in gruesome detail, so I’ll stick to my personal feelings. I love this TV. Hi def shows look fantastic, as do my XBox 360 games. Just the other day, I was watching Iron Man with my wife and had to pause the movie just to comment aloud how great the picture looked…

Where this TV particularly shines, though, is sports or other high-speed images, I suspect because of the 120Hz refresh rate. I love watching football on this TV.

Because I bought it fairly early on (from Amazon, which has a great delivery service, by the way), mine had the “bug” where it would occasionally shut itself off and back on. It happened rarely, but just the other day I decided to upgrade the firmware myself. With the USB port on the TV, it really could not have been easier. I copied file off the Internet onto a USB key drive, followed a few instructions, and it was done.

Anyway, great TV. You won’t be sorry.

what else can i say, this is one of the nicest tv’s i’ve ever seen

I love the red touch of color, it adds a nice “touch”

The tv also is 120hz refresh rate so you don’t miss a thing.

46 inches is awesome! looks great in my living room

and the remote is stylish…(but i ended up just using the cable dvr remote )

overall if you need a hdtv, this is the tv to buy!

5 Stars Just about Perfect
I have just recently purchased this TV after much research. There is nothing that I can complain about this TV. The TOC I barely notice unless I turn on all the lights in the room. I haven’t gotten use to the 120Hz as of yet but even the picture with it off is perfect. The remote is the only problem I have with this TV but I just use my receiver’s remote to get rid of the issues. Also, Amazon’s service and price were excellent with the TV delivered right on time. Thanks Amazon.

I bought a 52″ Sharp D64U model and returned it for this TV. The 650 has a perfect picture, it was well worth going down in size. Some people complain about the glossy screen. I have lights behind and on top of my TV as well as windows on the side and there is no problem. With the deals going on right now at Amazon there is no reason to look at any other model. This was also rate #1 in consumer reports. Bought it on a Sunday and it was delivered that Friday.

5 Stars Great picture
The TV came 5 days after we ordered it. The delivery service was perfect and the TV is working great. The picture is excellent. There is only one thing – if you are going to uninstall the base stand in order to mount the TV on a stand from the back, you will find that the four screws used to attach the base mount are very hard to get out – the screws are deep in and since there is no angle, it is hard to tell when you have unscrewed the screws. So we had to use a kitchen magnet to get them out. That can be exhausting if you have just finished assembling a new mount for the TV. But the picture especially for movies compensates for everything, and the surround sound is also amazing. So highly recommend the TV but maybe Samsung can put some angle in these screw holes on the bottom or magnetize the screws and then it will all be perfect.

But very happy with purchase, exceptional TV, especially with a nice mount from Costco.

1 Star Big dissappointment
I had purchased this tv from 6th Avenue with high hopes and because I believed Samsung is a good brand. However when I recieved it today I was gutted as the picture would not display full screen. I went into the “menu –> Picture options –> size” and set it to 16:9 and yet the picture wouldnt display on the fullscreen. Only when I switched the size to wide display did it display full screen. I had a lengthy discussion with a customer service representative of samsung and somebody is going to come to my house on the 2nd of December to try and fix this issue. Unfortunately 6th Avenue doies not have a return policy for tv’s 37″ and above. I feel like I am stuck with a defective tv . Don’t commit the same mistake.

I will update my review with how the repair experience goes…

5 Stars Excellent performance, Delivered beyond expectations
The TV has performed perfectly, easy to set up. Delivered exactly on time as promised although it was a special 320 mile round trip just for me, no other deliveries that day on their route.

5 Stars Incredible hi-def picture but what about non-HD?
1. Delivery–flawless and timely (ordered from Amazon). I connected it to our Comcast HD cable box, plugged in in, and haven’t stopped watching since.

2. Hi definition channels look INCREDIBLE. The much-feared glare from the polished black frame turned out to be a non-factor. It doesn’t get any better than this (of course, this is my first step up from conventional old fashioned TVs, so what do I know?).

3. BUT…non-HD stations pretty much look blah. Foggy, snowy, ghosted, continually refocusing, some better than others, but none of them up to par. With some adjusting of contrast, sharpness, and other options, I have been able to “thicken up” the display so the flaws are less obvious, but this isn’t the way it’s supposed to be.

So the question for those in the know is: What up? Is it a lemon (I doubt it)? Is it typical and we all have to live with it until all stations are HD (that would be suprising since I have been on digital cable for years with flawless display on regular TV)? Is it a bad cable box? Or is there a setting I have overlooked?

Samsung LN40A550 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTVI purchsed this set about week ago and it was delivered in about 5 days- much quicker than Amazon had indicated- delivery person was very accomodating and had called the day before and then 2 hours before he actually brought it. Price was considerably less than big box stores or on line with other vendors-

I am very pleased with the set even with watching just analog as I don’t have HD connected yet.-Maybe not quite as clear as old analog set but format & size is different also so this probably accounts for that. I’m sure it will vastly improve with HD.

I really don’t have any complaint about the sound but I am not a real audiophile so I think it is pretty good without any enhancing equipment.

I recommend this set to anyone as a very good 40″ starter hdtv.

5 Stars Satisfactory for what I needed
We had a 13″ tv/vcr combo that we used in a small motor home. As we now have mostly DVDs, we were looking for a replacement that we could also used on our srceen porch. Our size limitation was the space in the RV available for TV. This really left only 19′ or smaller. After a lot of looking we decided on the Samsung 19″. We have been satisfied with it both in the RV and on the porch. I would have preferred something larger for the porch, but it is acceptable. The picture and color are excellent. As some reviewers have said, the tuner is a bit slow to react to on/off and change of channels. Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with it. AS we all are more used to larger screens and more powerful technoligy, the Samsung should only be compared to similar models. 720p is not 1080p. The TV has a very complete set of connections. My only complaint has been the audio volume via the companion Samsung DVD player we purchased with it. That has been less than best. This led me to have several conversations with Samsung support. I would give it a 3-4 out of 5. Each support representive supports only one product type; i.e., TV is one and DVD player is a second. The two do not meet. One gave me some suggestions; one transferred me and I was hung up on; and the last one suggested I reset the DVD player. Enough about the DVD plyer. The TV has done what we wanted.

5 Stars Purty Picutre, Great Value!
Having moved across country temporarily to find the furnished apartment furnished with an ancient tiny TV, I set myself the task of finding an affordable interim replacement. My “real” TV is a larger sized LCD Samsung and I have been very happy with it for the last two years, so I was not hesitant to get another Samsung, especially with the good reviews of this model. I was not disappointed! This TV has a beautiful picture. It is crisp, clear, responsive (for video games), and has great color.

The sound, oddly enough, is much better than my bigger Samsung. Perhaps Samsung has inconsistent speaker quality? I noticed some other reviewers complaining about the speakers, but I really find the sound quality to be quite clear and rich for such a small TV. Makes me think if I were to buy another and got crappy sound, I’d either return the TV or have Samsung fix it.

I’ve noticed that the menu options and firmware, while closely resembling those of my older TV, are in fact much improved. The channel selection is more intelligent, and my favorite thing is the picture resizing options. They are far more flexible. On my old TV, they are frustrating and I always seem to have black bars in one direction or another. This TV will cycle through any option you could want at the touch of a button. Wish I could upgrade my old TV’s firmware, sigh. But on this tv, you can! There’s an option to upgrade from USB in the future in case there are more improvements to the firmware. Joy to a geek like me, I suppose.

The plan was to sell this TV when I move back home, but I am sorely tempted to keep it for use in my kitchen, I like it so much.

Oh, and there was no sticker on the screen, so I guess that’s no longer an issue? I like the glossy frame, and while it does reflect a bit of light, the screen itself is so vivid and engaging, even for its small size, that I don’t notice any glare at all while I’m watching the TV. Also, even though this set is small, the clear picture makes it more visible than you’d think, though I do miss my big screen!

In short, if this is the size you need, then this is a great TV, especially for the price!

It was great from the start. Easy set up and great picture quality. We live about 20 miles from downtown Chicago and it picks up HD with great clarity. It is a great bedroom or kitchen TV.
