5 Stars Sony Bravia
I bought the 40″ Sony Bravia for a house warming gift to my daughter. The Picture is so clear especially High Definition. I bought a Sony Bravia 32″ for myself last year. I would highly recommend the Sony over others. It’s worth the cost.

5 Stars Sony Bravia HDTV 1080p
The television was packed beautifully. Easy to set up. The picture is beautiful and I am very happy with it. I highly recommend it.Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-40S4100 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

3 Stars One complain …
I purchased this TV and the price was good and the delivery was good too. The picture is clear. One complain I have is that it takes like 20 seconds to view the screen after I press the power button. I don’t know if it is because i do not have HD transmission but I doubt it because I have a 32″ Sharp Aquos and it takes just five seconds to display something on the screen. I may have to check with the Sony website.

In general i am satisfied but i dont think it should take 20 seconds to display something on the screen.

5 Stars Very Pleaased
We are very pleased with the Sony Bravia TV. The picture quality is great! I would recommend this TV to everyone. Just keep the remote away from German Shepherd’s, ours ate the remote!

4 Stars Great Buying Experience
This television just arrived this morning and I have much to learn about it, but I wanted to write about the great buying experience I had at Amazon. Ordered the television on a Friday — because it was over 40″ we received free White Glove shipping and it arrived on Monday! The delivery person brought the tv into the house, unpacked it and set it up. When I went online a little while later I saw that the price for this tv had dropped so I emailed and called Amazon and in a few hours received written email confirmation that the charge would be adjusted on my credit card. I was very pleasantly surprised and am very pleased with this entire experience so far.

    4 Stars Good box – but…
I was unable to use the gov’t ‘coupon’ but the other reviews are right. Dandy unit

5 Stars The one to buy
Five minute setup, Perfect picture, more channels, better reception and more features than I every had before. i am only an occasional TV viewer and would never waste money on Cable or Dish. But this was the best 20 bucks I ever spent on entertainment. With the government coupon it was $20 at Best Buy. It was the only model they featured and I can see why. The reviews showed it had the most features. Then after quick set-up I went from 9 channels with poor reception to 25 channels with perfect reception. I have a rooftop antenna. The Only channel that didn’t come through after the scanning set-up was the local christian channel. An added bonus. I didn’t have to go into the menu and block it which is easy to do to. It took me an additional 30 seconds to program the unit’s remote to control my TV ON/OFF. Everything else is on the unit’s remote: Channel and program guide, picture cropping to get rid of bars on the top or side, captions, language settings, volume, and much more. I still can’t believe what a great value this is.

4 Stars Works well (it should because you pay extra)
After reviewing all converters out there, I decided to pay extra and get this converter over cheaper brands because:

    1) once your govt converter coupon used, you don’t get it back if you decide to return so it’s difficult to try other models

    2) this one was readily available and my coupon was about to expire

    3) it had good ratings from other reviewers

    4) Unlike some converters, it had a remote that could control tv as well as the converter, and had other standard buttons that other converter remotes lacked (mute, volume, channel recall).

Overall this converter works great out of the box. I live within 30 miles of Chicago and all Chicago stations are crystal clear with my little 20+ year old rooftop antenna so it’s a big improvement.

My only criticism against this converter like some have mentioned is the “hiss” you can sometimes hear in the background. I can always get the hiss to go away with combination of adjusting the tv and converter box volume controls. If you always listen to tv at same volume you can “set it and forget it” but we tend to have the volume loud (during a workout) or soft when (someone is asleep).

A nice bonus is it’s stereo – so our 2nd converter is on an ancient mono tv and I plugged stereo outputs into an old stereo system so we now get 1990s sound off a 1980s tv.

    Few things to beware of:

    1) there is an auto shutoff feature that you can configure or stop (so if converter goes off – check this out)

    2) like all converters – you’ll need some extra work/thinking to keep your VCR working – converter has to be on and set to a channel you want to record.

    3) Remote will control multiple converter boxes – learned this because magically the 2nd converter box would sometime turn on when we were using the other one somewhere else in the house.

    5 Stars digital converter box
Very good basic unit. Easy to add new channels without doing a full channel search again. Handy remote with power switch for your TV too. Full program guide would have been nice for a unit in the $60-70 range, but the simple guide included works well. Bought my first two from Best Buy but have located and bought several more at much lower price via Amazon.

4 Stars Good DTV Converter solution for most needs
I own 6 DTV converter boxes consisting of mix of this Insignia model, the Zenith DTT901, and the Zenith DTT900. Although all of these models are essentially the same and made by Philips. The Insignia is the Best Buy version of the Zenith DTT900. The Zenith DTT901 has an anolog pass through feature which means you can still watch analog TV which could be important for those channels that keep breaking up in digital.

    *** Positive Points Include ***

    - Small size and easy to setup

    - Improves picture quality over analog TV tuners.

    - Picks up digital channels very well, even with a simple rabbit ears antenna.

    - Lightweight and simple remote that has dedicated buttons for most features.

    - Remote can be programmed to turn your tv on and off.

    - The bright red/blue LED light make it easy to tell when the tuner is on or off.

    ** Negative Points Include ***

    - The onscreen tv guide is a bit too simple and it only lists the current and upcoming show on the channel you are tuned to.

    - Like most converter boxes, this Insignia does a poor job of tuning weak stations and results in a broken or frozen picture until the antenna is moved to improve reception. This model (unlike the Zenith DTT901) does not have analog pass through so you can’t simply turn off the DTV tuner to get regular analog channels.

    - The remote only turns the TV on and off. It cannot be programmed to control any other features of your tv.

Overall this is a great DTV converter box for most people’s needs. Consumer Reports did a test that gave a slight edge to the Zenith models over the otherwise identical Insignia models but I honestly could not find any difference in picture quality. I give this 4 Stars and the Zenith DTT901 4.5 Stars because the Zenith has the analog pass through feature.

    5 Stars Great TV!
I must be fairly lucky, I ordered this TV through amazon and was a little bit worried about getting a bad set…but It’s perfect. No clouding visible to the human eye. Blacks are very black, better than the xbr4. It’s almost perfect, some minor viewing inconsitencies but compared to every other TV I would rate this probably the best you can get(even though I have not seen any of the LED models). I even heard about the Pio Kuro Elite having noticeable smearing, and this set has basically none. I have no dead pixels, no smearing, no ghosting. I would say from everything I have gone through and through my research, this would be the best TV to get. Although the sharpness the XBR4 can outclass by a small margin, It’s a big trade off for the consistency in the picture and the black levels. Most people probably wouldn’t even notice. This TV is UNBELIEVABLE!

    4 Stars Awesome TV!
I ordered from the Warehouse Deals from Amazon.com. The TV arrived 4 days after shipment. It was in the original box. However, the box had been opened as was noted in the description. There are no scratches or dents on the TV. Other than a bit of packing dust, it was in perfect condition. I would recommend the Warehouse Deals.

The quality of the picture is incredible! This was a top rated LCD by Consumer Reports, so after viewing for a few days, it was easy to see why.

The only drawback to this TV that I have found is that there is no output jack from the TV tuner. As a result, I am unable to record a DVD using my tunerless Samsung DVD Recorder.

Overall, a great TV for the price!

    5 Stars Extremely satisfied
I bought this tv in June (not from Amazon. Found it cheaper elsewhere) and have been in love with it ever since. Based on my purchase, I strongly look for Samsung products now when I am shopping for other electronics. Picture quality is excellent. Design is delightful. My only complaints are 1. it seems a little slow turning on or switching between devices (but that isn’t much of an issue compared to the quality of the product). 2. The wireless connectivity seems pointless since all I can use it for is newsfeeds, weather, and stockfeed (I was disappointed that the wireless capabilities came out just as I purchased my tv and mine didn’t have it, but as a pleasant surprise, Samsung sent me the wireless connection as a free gift after registering the product with them).

I highly recommend this product and have no regrets (other than watching the price drop as newer versions come out). Excellent tv!

    4 Stars Great Picture
This has been our first large screen TV and it is such a wonderful, clear picture. It is great especially for watching nature programs or movies. I have never watched as much TV as I do now.

Our friends have a large screen projection TV and it seems to have a darker, fuzzier picture. Plus, it fades out when you stand off to the side. Our LCD does not do that. This makes it perfect for our living room since we have a couple of chairs that are kind of off to one side–everyone gets to watch the same great picture.

We’ve had our TV now for about 8 months and have had no problems at all.

    5 Stars Incredible TV
I finally decided to upgrade from my 36″ tube tv. I was debating between the 46″ and 52″ Samsung A650. I really wanted the bigger tv but didn’t want to spend $500 more on it. Then I found out about Amazon’s warehouse deals. I was able to get the 52″ tv for $1640 plus shipping (shipping isn’t free when it is warehouse deal). Even including shipping, I only ended up paying $175 more than the 46″ new version.

At first I was hesitant because the description says “cosmetic blemishes”. But after reading the success other purchases had with warehouse deals, I was sold.

The TV was delivered 5 days after I ordered it. It didn’t come in the Samsung Box, but really, does that matter? I inspected the tv, but couldn’t find a single thing wrong with it. Everything on it is amazing. Even after a few weeks, I’m still in awe when I watch tv.

If you are like me and can’t decide between the 46″ and 52″, go for the 52″ warehouse deal. You save money and will be much happier in the long run.

5 Stars Sweet TV, Perfect for first time HDTV buyers
My wife and I finally decided to take the plunge and get a HDTV. We did a lot of research on consumer reports, CNET and other sites as well as visiting several stores to see what the televisions looked like in person. Our entertainment center is only big enough for a 32″ TV, so that helped us decide on size, and after a ton of research, we decided that the look and picture of this Samsung was the way to go. We shopped for a while and were thinking of waiting until Black Friday but found the TV on Amazon for a great price + free shipping. The TV came in a whole week before the estimated delivery time, and after about 10 minutes of set up, I was watching ESPN and playing my XBOX 360. the difference between this TV and our old Emerson tube TV was striking. XBOX games looked like entirely different games. DVD’s popped and were sharper than ever and by a long shot. The difference is amazing. I highly recomend this TV for anyone looking for a great picture in the 32″ range.

4 Stars Great features and picture quality
Purchased 2 weeks ago. Great picture and features, however the documented stand issue was evident. Could not level the set with the 4 mounting screws. Ended up using felt pads under two of the four rubber feet on the base to level the set. Given the picture quality at the current price point, I can live with the felt shims.

5 Stars First Time HDTV Buyer – Samsung Is Now Brand Of Choice
This is my first HDTV purchase. I know I am a little bit late to the game but I’m finally here. I replaced an old 1995 Sony tube. I looked into Sony HDTV’s but they just didn’t appeal to me.

I ordered this TV and I’m amazed at the picture quality. I find myself watching move TV than I ever did. I got a DVR from my cable company and I’m pulling triggers left and right recording shows I want to watch. I am so satisfied.

The picture quality is amazing. The blacks are deep and black and whites are like brand new snow. LOL. Not sure why people are complaining about sound. I guess for those that turn the volume to full in the car and are still not satisfied might find something wrong with the audio but to me it’s just right.

I’m so satisfied I just pulled the trigger on the Samsung LN40A550 HDTV for my living room.

Thanks Amazon for the great pricing and white glove service. Great purchase!

5 Stars So Far, So Good
Just got the TV a few hours ago, and So Far, So Good. The few bad reviews I read mentioned issues with the stand. I had none. Looks great. Sounds great. It has the best simulated surround sound I’ve ever heard from a TV. It still doesn’t compare to true surround sound, but this is for my bedroom so I’m not in a hurry to buy another sound system. I have cable and this thing picks up a few HD channels(Fox, NBC, CBS, ABC, and maybe one or two more) without a cable box. So far, I’m happy as can be about the tv. I’ll update the review if anything negative pops up. As far as the service from Amazon, it was great as usual. I got the tv for $600. It was 750 anywhere else. Free shipping. I ordered it late on a Monday night. It was delivered on Saturday at 330pm. Might have gotten it a day earlier but I always work late on Fridays. UPS shipped it to a company named CEVA in St. Louis. They called me to set up a time to deliver it, then drove over 2 hours south to drop it off.

    5 Stars Wow
I got it for a great price and it totally beats the other televisions in theis price range. If you want an affordable hdtv this is the one to get.

    5 Stars Samsung LCD 1080 P 52″
Great t.v. Excellent price. No sales tax and free shipping. Very pleased with purchase. Hundreds cheaper than any stores I went to, including COSTCO.

    5 Stars Great TV
I chose the LN52A550 becuase it had a non glare screen. The picture is excellent. There is motion blur as with all LCD’s but you have to look for it to notice it on this TV. The 5MS response time helps to minimize the effect. If you have a room with windows this is a great choice.

Amazon’s price was excellent and the shipping company CEVA was on time and made sure everything worked. This is the second TV I have bought from Amazon. Two of my freinds also purchased TV’s from Amazon with no problems.

5 Stars so glad we got this tv
we just bought ours and are now enjoying this beautiful tv. we’ve had it now for 3 days and the 52″ size is just stunning and the picture is awesome. the shipping process through amazon was painless and the shipment came on time. probably like you, i was skeptical of buying through the internet such a huge item, but amazon was painless and the tv is fantastic. great bargain for the price. i hope that our new samsung tv stays this way (i’ve read the other reviews!) and that i don’t have to find myself dealing with samsung warranty service. i’m keeping my fingers crossed! everyone seems to be knocking the speaker quality, but i don’t think the speakers are that bad to be honest. i’m not one of those high-tech type people, so maybe i don’t know what i’m missing. but the speakers on this tv sound fine to me even when i watch dvd movies. overall i’m happy that we got this tv.

5 Stars Excellent TV, no complaints
I bought this in May 2008 and could not be happier with my decision. If you are condsidering this TV you may also be looking at the 6, 7, or 8 series Samsung LCDs of the same size. I did not find the faster refresh rate worth the money to upgrade to the 6 series, and one feature I like on this TV that the higher series change is the screen protector. This TV has a typical LCD screen, where as the higher level “touch of color” models put a reflective piece in front of it. This is just a matter of opinion, but for day-time viewing there is less glare with this screen.

Picture quality is excellent, I play lots of Xbox 360 and watch lots of movies (DVD, HD-DVD, Blu Ray) in full 1080p and the picture is stunning. The other TV I was considering (similar in size/price) was the 50″ 1080p Plasma from Samsung. When it came down to it I got a better deal on this one and that pushed me to this set, but here is what I considered with the plasma-

    Plasma has deeper colors (+)

Uses more power (although it can be calibrated to help) (-)

Plasma has a glass screen=more reflective in daytime viewing (-)

If you are looking for an everyday, anytime use TV, this will be a good choice. If you are a hardcore gamer, have a darker room with no windows/low light, then plasma may be the way to go, and if you want to shell out the extra cash, go for a model with the 120Hz refresh rate, but personally I did not find it worth the money.

The only complaint I have about this TV is the sound- not so great. My wife prefers to just turn on the TV and watch it (not deal with the receiver, just stick with the basics) and she is not bothered by the sound, but I have it hooked up to surround sound (most of you probably will) and therefore I could care less how the stock speakers sound. I will probably be purchasing a smaller version of this same set later on for regular viewing and move the 52″ into a game/movie room, and at that point the TV speakers will be disabled. Just something to keep in mind if you don’t plan on using this set with a surround sound system.

5 Stars Samsung LCD “It’s AWESOME”
I purchased this TV along with the Samsung Blue Ray DVD player and three of the 1.3 HDMI cables offered via Amazon for a very reasonable price. The TV is AWESOME. I did an extensive research on all similare type LCD TV’s (52 inch) and have found the Samsung 52A550 to be just incredible. The picture is crystal clear and the hookup process was easy. I was worried about the 60hz vs 120hz and have found that I cannot tell the difference. There are some fuzzy images in the backgrounds on various channels but that is more likely the type of camera used and not the TV. When you go to true HD viewing (ie ESPN, HGTV) the picture is beyond words. Either way, HD or Standard viewing, this TV performs. When I used the Blue Ray DVD player. OMG, what a picture. All in all I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend this TV to anybody, espcecially for the price. Also, regarding the glare, there is NONE. I was amazed. As for the white glove dilevery, that was great too. The driver from Pilot Trucking drove to my door, unloaded and unboxed the TV, made sure it worked and took the trash out with him when he left. All in all excellent service. Thanks AMAZON….

5 Stars Satisfactory for what I needed
We had a 13″ tv/vcr combo that we used in a small motor home. As we now have mostly DVDs, we were looking for a replacement that we could also used on our srceen porch. Our size limitation was the space in the RV available for TV. This really left only 19′ or smaller. After a lot of looking we decided on the Samsung 19″. We have been satisfied with it both in the RV and on the porch. I would have preferred something larger for the porch, but it is acceptable. The picture and color are excellent. As some reviewers have said, the tuner is a bit slow to react to on/off and change of channels. Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with it. AS we all are more used to larger screens and more powerful technoligy, the Samsung should only be compared to similar models. 720p is not 1080p. The TV has a very complete set of connections. My only complaint has been the audio volume via the companion Samsung DVD player we purchased with it. That has been less than best. This led me to have several conversations with Samsung support. I would give it a 3-4 out of 5. Each support representive supports only one product type; i.e., TV is one and DVD player is a second. The two do not meet. One gave me some suggestions; one transferred me and I was hung up on; and the last one suggested I reset the DVD player. Enough about the DVD plyer. The TV has done what we wanted.

    5 Stars Good TV
TV works well, sound good and has a viewable picture from different angles. Would purchase another one.

5 Stars Purty Picutre, Great Value!
Having moved across country temporarily to find the furnished apartment furnished with an ancient tiny TV, I set myself the task of finding an affordable interim replacement. My “real” TV is a larger sized LCD Samsung and I have been very happy with it for the last two years, so I was not hesitant to get another Samsung, especially with the good reviews of this model. I was not disappointed! This TV has a beautiful picture. It is crisp, clear, responsive (for video games), and has great color.

The sound, oddly enough, is much better than my bigger Samsung. Perhaps Samsung has inconsistent speaker quality? I noticed some other reviewers complaining about the speakers, but I really find the sound quality to be quite clear and rich for such a small TV. Makes me think if I were to buy another and got crappy sound, I’d either return the TV or have Samsung fix it.

I’ve noticed that the menu options and firmware, while closely resembling those of my older TV, are in fact much improved. The channel selection is more intelligent, and my favorite thing is the picture resizing options. They are far more flexible. On my old TV, they are frustrating and I always seem to have black bars in one direction or another. This TV will cycle through any option you could want at the touch of a button. Wish I could upgrade my old TV’s firmware, sigh. But on this tv, you can! There’s an option to upgrade from USB in the future in case there are more improvements to the firmware. Joy to a geek like me, I suppose.

The plan was to sell this TV when I move back home, but I am sorely tempted to keep it for use in my kitchen, I like it so much.

Oh, and there was no sticker on the screen, so I guess that’s no longer an issue? I like the glossy frame, and while it does reflect a bit of light, the screen itself is so vivid and engaging, even for its small size, that I don’t notice any glare at all while I’m watching the TV. Also, even though this set is small, the clear picture makes it more visible than you’d think, though I do miss my big screen!

In short, if this is the size you need, then this is a great TV, especially for the price!

    5 Stars Great Buy
It was great from the start. Easy set up and great picture quality. We live about 20 miles from downtown Chicago and it picks up HD with great clarity. It is a great bedroom or kitchen TV.

    3 Stars Not Bright Enough
The Samsung 19″ LCD LN9A450 was a good price. However, I find the picture to not be as bright as I would like.
